Walk Duration

Walks are 1.5 - 3 hours long and over easy/moderate terrain. Please bring appropriate clothes for the prevailing weather. Waterproof walking boots are advised as the walks can be wet in places. Waterproof outerwear is also strongly advised, even in Summer! Advance booking required. Full public liability insurance.

All walks can be combined with a walking tour of Kells Heritage Town conducted by The Book of Kells Experience. Special price €5.00.

Girley Bog Looped Walk

Discover the fascinating world of Irish bogs, and learn all about these unique wetland habitats. Find out how plants survive in the challenging conditions of the bog, forage for wild berries and watch dragonflies, butterflies and other insects as they emerge for the Summer months.

Mullaghmeen Forest Park

Mullaghmeen Forest Park is the largest planted beech forest in Western Europe and its 1000 acres offers many sights of interest for walkers. Learn about native trees, Irish folklore and the fascinating history of the area. Enjoy fabulous views of the surrounding countryside from the summit.

This walk is a pleasant ramble through farmland, past a ringfort and along the banks of the Blackwater River, a Special Area of Conservation. The walk continues past the restored Victorian Waterworks before looping back to the historic landmark of the Spire of Lloyd.
